I’m a prospective law student. My ultimate goal is to work for the United Nations or other international humanitarian organization. What law school should I attend? Does it need to be tier one?

Is there a certain dollar amount the job must be under before you need a contractors license? Please if you can site your information that would be great!

I am in my last year of getting my social work degree. I have always known that I want to fight for children’s rights but didn’t exactly know what specific title I needed. I have decided that I want to go into family law and I want to know if it will be an easy transition from a Social Work major with psychology minor into a career in family law.

On top of the cost of paying the licensing fee, and the cost of a television set, do you also have to pay for subscription to services? Like cable or satellite?
So the license fees are mandatory if you want to watch tv period? Even if you don’t want the bbc channels, and just want the cable ones?

My checkbook was recently stolen and before I could close my account, dozens of checks were written. I am in the process of clearing up this mess, but in the meantime my old checking account is frozen, overdrawn, and closed to further activity.

I was able to open a new account after I explained the problem, even though ChexSystems had me in their system as having a ton of bounced checks.

Will I be able to write checks to stores that use check verification systems? Or, even though I have a new account number at a different bank, will they cross-reference my name/driver’s license number/phone number and not take my checks?
BTW, I don’t use a debit card for two reasons: (1) most banks in my area still charge a monthly fee just to put a debit card on an account (at the same time, I get unlimited free checks), and (2) many of the businesses I shop at locally charge a fee to use a debit/atm card as payment. I know this is absurdly antiquated, but I live in a small, very rural, very backwards area when it comes to this sort of thing. Given this, I haven’t yet sprung for a debit card because I refuse to pay extra to have/use it!
BTW, Consumer… check verification does NOT verify funds in the account. That only happens when the merchant electronically debits the check. The verification I am talking about is when the merchant uses a system that checks your information against a database – they ONLY verify that the account is open and not overdrawn. What I want to know is: what information do they use to verify? Do they just use the routing/account number, or do they use your name/driver’s license #/address/etc?

Also, as an FYI, I did try to use a check yesterday at a retailer and it was rejected. Usually it gives a reason for the denial, such as, bounced checks are on the system. This time, it didn’t give any reason – the store was baffled. Guess I will have to call the check verification system to get an answer on this one.

Who would i need to call to find out if i need a license to do electrical work in my area? I know some places don’t require a license, but i want to make sure i don’t need one or if i do need one to get one. Would i call the township building?

If I get a broker license and register my own company but work from home (i.e. don’t really have an office outside of my home), how do I hide my private residence address on my business cards? I don’t want the whole world to know where I live.

I have a friend who has some skills in installation of fixtures and he would like to do more work to get more experience. Is there a legal way to do this if he does it commercially or is there steps he can take to earn money towards a lisense doing installations?

im just wondering if its the law to allow employees a break during their work day (i worked 6 hours with no break) ..is the law only for employees who work at least 8 hours?

what are some job titles that satisfy the new york state work requirements to get a cpa license? do you have to be an auditor?

Our schedule for Wednesday through Tuesday is posted on either Monday night or Tuesday (the day before we work). We don’t get a set schedule, so it changes every week. Is there any kind of california law that makes that illegal?
