CPA license – Necessary to work at a CPA firm?

08 Jun

Some ppl have told me that I need to work at a CPA firm for 2 years in order to sit for the CPA exam (along with the education) and obtain my license. Others have told me that I need only 1 year of general accounting experience and finish all the accounting related courses.

Currently I am a staff accountant at a company (non-cpa firm) and was wondering if i am wasting my time here if i plan to take the CPA exam in the future.

The contractor we planned to use for tile and stone work in our remodel has had complaints filed with?

07 Jun

the state contractors board. Two of their three licenses have the status as “revoked, board action.” I don’t know exactly what it means, but so far all the other people we are using for our remodel have no complaints with our state board or with the BBB. The third license is listed as “active.” Should we rethink using them? I don’t want to not use a company because one person may have had a personal problem and filed a complaint or does the company have to had a lot of complaints filed to have their license revoked?
Thank you.

31 May

Is it also true that lawyers must do some level of pro bono work annually to be bar certified?
Is this work primarily discretionary or is there a formula involved in pro bono work other than publicity?
Is pro bono work generally speaking done for financial gain or good intentions?
Answer 3 Dan: “Publicity has nothing to do with it”

If a medical job license is revoked, are you still work in the MEDICAL field?

23 May

My friend has had her medical CNA license revoked recently. I’m wondering if even though she had her license taken away for being a CNA, is she still able to go to school again for another medical profession such as a nursing assistant? Or does having her CNA license revoked means that she will not be able to have any more jobs or professions in the medical field?

In what capacity must I work when under the technical supervision of a licensed appraiser?

22 May

Do I work independent of the licensee, or as an employee? If independent, do I have to become a separate business entity? Or does this occur after the 2000 hours of work experience?
How is the licensed appraiser typically compensated?
